See how we’re united in a love of learning at Gold Creek World of Learning (Nicholls). Our long day care and early education centre provides child care in Nicholls that is perfect for families living or commuting through nearby suburbs Nicholls or nearby suburbs Casey, Palmerston, Crace and Giralang. It is also an easy drive for our out-of-town families who commute into Canberra from Yass, Murrumbatemen and surrounding NSW towns.
Our service is set on a large corner block with high ceilings and large open spaces for children to engage in play-based learning.
Gold Creek Village is a close community and we often explore our surroundings by going on adventures to the Dinosaur Museum, Bird Aviary, Reptile park and many more. We are blessed to have such large selection of learning adventures at our fingertips.
We have some chicken’s that live with us at the service. Nugget and Noodle (named by our preschool children) have been with us for about four years and they help us in our sustainability programs. The children and the chickens help us with our vegetable garden and our chicken’s love any left over food that the children give to them.
When you walk through the doors of our Nicholls child care centre, you’ll be immersed in a world where children are encouraged to explore and learn. Our adventure-filled playgrounds feature a large yard, sandpits, bike track, climbing fort, slide, vegetable garden, and play equipment to engage all the senses.
Children are provided the time and space for uninterrupted play as they explore the outdoors to test their limits and develop strength, balance, and self-confidence. Being outside supports children’s overall health and wellbeing.
Our indoor spaces invite exploration with quality resources and learning experiences. Children wonder, create, and test out their ideas as they play with a range of materials in purposeful play spaces.
Our team of experienced educators plan play-based learning experiences around children’s interests and learning goals. Literacy and numeracy concepts are embedded in play-based learning, as children engage as architects, storytellers, scientists, artists, and designers.
There’s no need for you to worry about preparing lunch or snacks – our Nicholls child care centre has this all organised for you. Nutritious meals are made daily by our in-house cook, catering for all dietary requirements. Shared mealtimes between children and educators strengthen relationships, with opportunities to share stories and experiences, and model healthy eating practices.
There are new experiences to engage in every day at our Nicholls child care centre. Your child will have access to engaging specialised programs, including a sport and music and movement program. These fun and engaging programs enhance the daily program.
Our educators and children venture out on excursions to National Dinosaur Museum, Cockington Green Gardens, and other areas in the local Nicholls community. We welcome special guests and community members to the centre based on the children's interests. We have Larry Brandy visit us once a month to host Indigenous session furthering the children’s learning and inclusion of all cultures. We are lucky enough to have some wonderful staff that encourage children to learn new languages, our preschool children are learning Chinese. We also welcome special guests such as dentists, animal experts, healthy Harold, Kenny Koala and a range of other community guests.
Our centre also celebrates regular cultural events reflecting the diversity in our local community. Our families and our local community is important to us and we want to make sure everyone is celebrated. We celebrate events such as Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas, Book Week, NAIDOC week, Diwali, and many more.
Neighbourhood connections support a sense of community and belonging for children and provide opportunities to develop social and observational skills with different people, places, and environments.
