“No child in my care is just a number or a name on a list; each one is an extended branch on my family tree.”

I joined the team at World of Learning Victor Harbor in 2023, inspired by my own experience as a parent who has a child in care.

The endless joy and inclusion when accepted into a child’s world is a reward beyond expectations. Being allowed into a child’s world to offer comfort, trust, and a nurturing connection reminds them how unique they are. Seeing children flourish and expand their individuality through learning validates our role as educators. I often explain to families that attending a dedicated early childhood education centre offers controlled positive risk-taking in safe environments. This approach encourages trust, self-regulation, confidence, and independence in children. We are trusted and belong in their world to help shape their development. I cherish these moments and look forward to creating new ones every day. No child in my care is just a number or a name on a list; each one is an extended branch on my family tree.

Supporting, enhancing, and ensuring strong personal relations and team environments are crucial to a productive and cohesive team. I believe in being trustworthy and committed to helping educators progress in their personal and professional development. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation, we provide exceptional service to our community. Families entrust us with their most treasured possession—their children. Building trust, maintaining open communication, and nurturing warm relationships with families and children are paramount to a successful partnership.

I look forward to welcoming your family to Victor Harbor World of Learning.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Victor Harbor, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

We maintain a community veggie patch at the front of our centre, allowing families and the community to pick fresh vegetables as needed. We also collect and donate bottle caps to support recycling efforts.

Inclusion

We create a sense of belonging for your child to ensure they feel heard and empowered to make choices, fostering their independence. We celebrate each child’s unique strengths, helping them to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Language and early literacy

Children develop early literacy through storytelling, books, songs and meaningful conversations. Educators support children to explore language in many forms, including speaking, listening, viewing, drawing and writing, while building confidence communicating with others.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

See more We couldn’t be more grateful for the outstanding care and support our family has received from World of Learning. Both of our children have attended since they were 7–8 months old, and during that time, both have developed medical complexities. The way educators and management have supported us — from early signs through diagnosis and ongoing management — has been nothing short of amazing. They’ve cared not only for our children but also checked in on us as parents, always treating our family as a whole. The educators consistently go above and beyond to make sure our kids feel safe, included, and supported. Their developmental needs and goals are regularly discussed with us, and staff always make time to chat or workshop strategies. Many educators have been there for years, and their experience shows in the confidence, care, and strong relationships they build with children. Our eldest has transitioned rooms twice, and both times the staff followed his individual needs — once delaying a move during the arrival of a new baby for consistency, and the second time allowing him to transition early when he showed readiness, while giving him the option to return if needed. Their thoughtful, child-led approach has made a huge difference. Management has also been exceptional — approachable, compassionate, and clearly committed to continual improvement. It’s obvious they’re working hard to make positive changes while keeping children’s wellbeing at the heart of everything. Communication is strong, they welcome feedback, and any concerns have been handled with urgency, collaboration, and genuine care. As a community Occupational Therapist, I’ve also worked with the centre professionally and have been equally impressed. The team is open, collaborative, and shows a strong, embedded commitment to inclusive practice — particularly in supporting children who are neurodivergent. It’s also important to acknowledge how underfunded the early childhood sector is, and how undervalued educators often are, despite doing incredibly complex and demanding work. Even so, this team continues to show up every day with dedication and heart. While I’ve seen how stretched they can be, my children have never felt the effects — they’re greeted each day with warmth, consistency, and beautifully planned learning environments. The rooms are always full of engaging, meaningful activities. The care, professionalism, and genuine love this team brings to their work is truly rare. We’re so thankful to have them as part of our children’s journey!

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

World of Learning uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, World of Learning is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
