College Kids is a Before and After School Care facility as well as offering Vacation Care for school aged children up to 12 years. During school terms the Centre is open from 6:30 am to 9:00 am, and 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm. During the vacation period, our centre opening times are from 6:30am to 6:30pm including pupil free days, but excluding public holidays.
Before School Care offers a range of stimulating activities to get your children’s minds warmed up leading into the school day. The After School Care program allows the children plan their own afternoon activities selected from a list provided and with consultation from parents, assistance with homework can be provided by our experienced and qualified educators.
Care is also provided for the school holidays to keep the children’s minds active and drive away some of the boredom of the long breaks. This holiday care offers a wide range of activities and excursions to put some variety into the holiday schedule.
My Time, Our Place
Our qualified educators plan experiences which develop children’s skills in all developmental areas and are a part of the My Time, Our Place Learning Framework. This framework puts children’s learning at the core and comprises of three inter-related elements: Principles, Practice and Learning Outcomes. All three elements are fundamental to school aged care pedagogy and curriculum decision-making. Fundamental to the Federal Government’s framework is a view of children’s lives as characteristics by Belonging, Being and Becoming.
The framework conveys the highest expectations for all school aged children’s learning and social development. It communicates these expectations through the following five Learning Outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are well connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of well being
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
Play activities planned by our educators allow children to naturally develop and have the opportunity to guide their own learning. Activity outcomes and individual observations on your child are documented in your children’s portfolio to assist in extending their skills and abilities.
Children have the opportunity for both indoor and outdoor play as part of the morning, afternoon and school holiday programs. The outdoor area is an essential part of the learning environment for children. All age groups utilise our specifically designed playgrounds to test their co-ordination, balance, skills, strength and social development in a fun and engaging environment.
Working in partnership with families, our educators use the learning outcomes to guide their planning for children’s learning. In order to engage children actively in learning, our educators identify the children’s strengths and interests, choose appropriate teaching strategies and design the learning environment.
Our routines allow time for individual play/learning, small group play/learning and large group sessions. Children’s language and literacy skills are further developed during these times, as children are involved in storytelling, drama, poems and games. Music also plays a large part during these sessions as children are able to experiment with dancing, singing and exercising their bodies. Science and cooking activities also further develops the children’s interest in the world around them and gives lifelong skills as they interact with texts and different technologies.

What inspired you to become an educator?
I stumbled into becoming an educator when I was at a crossroads in life trying to decide on a career path. A friend offered me some casual work in her service and here I am 6 years later! I love coming to work, seeing all the children and being able to build respectful and meaningful relationships with them.
What is your philosophy about educating children?
In Outside School Hours Care, there is an extra emphasis on learning through play, particularly since children are engaged in formal education during the day. I strongly believe in tailoring learning experiences and activities to children’s interests. I also believe that the physical environment is the child’s third teacher, and should be set up in an engaging and inviting way that allows children to learn and explore at their own pace.

I wanted to be a Forensic Scientist.
What is one of your hobbies?

Reviews and Testimonials
See what some of our parents say about our centre:
“My 3 children, Bodhana, Cooper and Milena, attend College Kids for before and after school care, and have done ever since our eldest Bodhana started school (she is now in Yr 4). I find that the centre has a “family” feel to it and the staff treat our children with kindness and respect. I love the flexibility of later pickups if your child wants to participate in an after-school activity and we have peace of mind that our children are in a safe and trusted environment. The price is also very reasonable compared to other centres. I highly recommend sending your children to College Kids.”
“My daughter Trinity goes to College Kids OSHC for the past year, for after school care service and vacation care. She really enjoys attending the centre, and finds the staff are friendly, approachable, caring, and professional. The centre provides nutritious meals and a safe environment for the kids to learn and play. Trinity really enjoys the school vacation activities which changes daily with either a different theme or outing and she loves the staffs dressing up and joining in some activites with the children, making it fun and entertaining for all. Overall as a parent, i am very pleased with this centre and would highly recommend the before and after school care service and the fantastic vacation care program being offered.”
