"My approach to supporting children in their learning and life journey is to provide love and support to every child, regardless of their personal challenges and upbringing."

I began my early childhood education and care career in 2008 at Holland Park West World of Learning. I love all aspects of early childhood education and care, but my favourite part is forming relationships with the children and their families. It's incredibly rewarding to earn the trust of families who rely on your abilities and knowledge to care for and educate their little ones.
I have learned that every child is unique, with different ways of learning and developing. As educators, it's our responsibility to adapt and evolve our programs to meet these individual needs. My approach to supporting children in their learning and life journey is to provide love and support to every child, regardless of their personal challenges and upbringing. There is no judgement, only understanding and inclusion for all.
Attending a dedicated early childhood education centre like Holland Park West World of Learning offers many benefits. I explain to families that their child's social skills developed in care are crucial for a successful start to their school journey. Our environment helps children navigate friendships and the emotional challenges they bring.
At Holland Park West, we have a close-knit team that feels like family. Everyone looks out for one another, fostering a cohesive and supportive atmosphere. We ensure families feel supported and offer many opportunities for their input into their child's care and learning. We listen to their concerns, making them feel heard and understood, and accommodate their different needs. We take the time to talk with families, ask about their weekends and interests, and encourage them to share their family adventures through photos displayed in the children's rooms.
I look forward to welcoming your family into our wonderful early education centre in Holland Park West.

## Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Holland Park West, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

#### Sustainability

We have recycling bins for parent donations, a chicken coop for veggie scraps, and vegetable gardens. These initiatives teach children the importance of recycling and sustainable living. By actively participating in these activities, children learn how their actions can positively impact the environment.

#### Community engagement

We regularly host school representatives from Marshall Road State School, St. Joachim's School, and local police and fire services in Holland Park area to help familiarise the children with their local community. Kindergarten children also go on transition visits at local schools. These engagements enhance the children's understanding and connection to their surroundings.

#### Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

#### Language and early literacy

Children develop early literacy through storytelling, books, songs and meaningful conversations. Educators support children to explore language in many forms, including speaking, listening, viewing, drawing and writing, while building confidence communicating with others.

After looking at a few newer local childcare centres we decided on World of Learning Holland Park and it was definitely the right decision. From day one everyone has been so welcoming and the educators genuinely care about the children. It’s reassuring knowing our child is happy and well looked after. The centre keeps us updated with what’s happening and the activities always look fun, educating and engaging. We’re so grateful to have found such a caring centre and would happily recommend it to other families.

The team is calm, patient, and genuinely caring with the children. Kirsty and her staff work beautifully together, creating a warm, family-like environment. We’ve always felt completely comfortable leaving our kids in their care.
The outdoor space is a real highlight — a true garden, unlike the typical double-storey centres. Inside, the rooms have a lovely focus on arts and crafts, encouraging creativity and hands-on play.

Our child has been attending Holland Park West World of Learning for the past several years. It has been a joy to see our child grow and develop through their interactions with the early learning educators at this centre. We appreciate that each age group has a dedicated set of educators that our child tracks with each year and that there is evidence of low staff turnover - which means our child gets to bond with the staff who all know them by name. Definitely makes drop offs easier when our child is willing to play with or go to staff at the centre. We also appreciate the early education program and the fact that we have seen our child develop their cognitive and social emotional abilities over time through their exposure to the early learning program. We've had a few nice surprises when our child has demonstrated capabilities that we haven't taught them in the home. HPW WOL is highly recommended.

Tldr: The staff at WOL HPW are absolute angels, we love it there, and childcare should not be run for profit.

We are as happy as you could be with ‘for-profit’ childcare. The 5 stars are for the staff, who are absolutely incredible. I genuinely believe that they care about my child and enjoy educating them. It boggles my mind that they can still genuinely care about my child when so much is demanded of them and they are paid so little.

That said, it is still a for-profit daycare. While I trust the staff at WOL Holland Park completely, I would never trust the parent company (G8) to put the needs of my child above their share price. This was probably best displayed by the parent company removing the autonomy of the centre cook in being able to plan the meals for the children. Despite doing an incredible job planning and preparing nutritious and delicious meals for the children it is now in the hands of Woolworths to do the meal planning. A bit on the nose considering the G8 CEO used to work for Woolworths Group.

## Frequently asked questions

##

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. [Click here to book a tour online.](/book-a-tour)

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

##

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

[Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.](/family-information/how-to-enrol)

##

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

[Learn more about our Settling-in Program.](/family-information/settling-in-program)

##

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

##

World of Learning uses Xplor Home as our [family communication app](/family-information/family-communication). It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

##

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, World of Learning is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
